Hello guys!

I am currently a Final Year Undergraduate student in NTU who is graduating this coming July 2023.

I have managed to secure a Full Time Job and planning to start working right after my Final Exams in mid May. So I plan to work maybe in June 2023.

Recently, the HR Manager just called me and informed me that they are unable to process for my Employment Pass cause they need to submit a completed Degree with all the passed modules listed on it. They informed me that I should consult my school about it whether they have encounter such scene before.

The purpose of this topic is:

  1. Do you guys know anyone who had experienced the same thing?
  2. If you are in my position, what would you do? Do you think I should try to find a Summer Internship to wait for my graduation?

Background of myself:

  1. Student Pass holder from Indonesia
  2. Been studying in Singapore since Primary 5
  3. My whole family is Singaporean, except for my mum and I.
  4. Applied for PR but got rejected a few times.

Thank you and please take care!

@captkimmy Based on my experience, if you have not graduated yet,  you should have (at least) a letter of completion to certify that you have completed your studies from your college with the transcript. Normally, MOM will verify by themselves.

In this case, you might need to tell the employer to wait until your overall results are out. Then you can request the letter of completion from your school to submit to MOM.

Until you have fully completed your degree AND submit written proof of it (e.g. the certificate), MoM will treat you as not having a degree. Without degree, you cannot get an EP.

Agreed with Beppi. Not sure what was communication between your and your employer. Did you inform them that you can't obtain any degree till the time institution is not provided (i.e. to complete my exam and get the certificate). They should aware of it. No institution gives certificate prior to exam and its result.

Try to convenience them wait till end of July'23 and your joining date will be after receiving certificate.
