A Relaxing Day Drifting along the White River.

Date: Sat, 27 August 2011

Time: 08:30am

Meeting Point: Outside the Hilton Beijing

Cost: 300RMB per person

Price Includes: Transportation, Lunch, English-speaking guides, Entrance fees, Boats and Insurance.

Not included: Personal Expenditure

Recommended: Hat, Sunblock, Bag / Belt to carry water, camera and smile.

Escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Beijing and escape with us to Huairou District in northeastern Beijing. A mere 95km drive from downtown concrete Beijing takes us to the White River (Bai He)  area with lush forests, clean air, and pure water.  Come and swap the black asphalt for an area with 75% green vegetation cover.  The area is popular for all sorts of outdoors sports including tock climbing, hiking and rafting. We will be doing the latter so prepare your Popeye and Olive Oil persona as we "row, row row the boat gently down the stream" for a 4km stretch that includes both quiet and rush moments.

We will not be doing anything too demanding, if my computer shape body can do it so can you, but even so this trip is not suitable for pregnant women (or even pregnant men).

This daytrip is not yet on the tourist map and is suitable for both foreigners and even the most local of local Chinese. This time the trip will conclude with what Lucy (Achinatours) has promised to be a magnificent barbecue to reward those who dared to move out of the safety of downtown Beijing.
