I am considering coming to Turkey to teach

Hello All,

I am a U.S. citizen with an M.A. in TESOL (teaching English). I have 25+ years of experience teaching in Intensive English Programs at the university level. I have also done a lot of teacher training, mostly teaching methodology, including for the STEM fields.

I am considering coming to Turkey to teach. Does anyone here have experience teaching at Bilkent University? If so, I would love to hear from you.

I do not yet speak Turkish, but plan on studying it.

Thanks so much,

Linda

Hey! Just wondering if you have heard anything. I've been in touch with a few people who have worked in this program - 2 were fairly positive, and the other quite negative.

@Marina Urrutia You live in the US, with probably a good job, why to come to Turkey?

I would guess that Marina is pursuing a more fulfilling lifestyle.  There are many in the US who are disillusioned/dissatisfied with living in the US and are deciding to leave including me.  I will never forget reading a post in a forum from a Turkish person who said that in the United States you live to work.  In Turkey, you work to live.  That is the crux of it.

Could be the same reasons I never returned to the UK.

A good job and all that is lovely, but what about the cost of living and social situation?
