My dad's Moroccan, I was born in England by my English mother, I am going to apply for my Moroccan i.d will this affect anything at all? As in anything in England? taxes, benefits, education, work? Any advice would be brilliant? Do I need to tell anyone? When I go to Morocco do I need to show them how does it work? Thankyou

Hi, it will affect everything in Morocco: you'll be fully Moroccan, without any of the derogations for foreigners if you live there.

  • no possibility to have a convertible account
  • no possibility to have assets outside of Morocco without a derogation from the Foreign Currency Exchange Control
  • no possibility to inherit from a non-Muslim, nor for a non-Muslim to inherit from you
  • and application of Muslim inheritance laws
  • being a Moroccan, hence a Muslim, strict application of laws for Ramadan
  • completely loosing your possibility of a consular support in case of problem

Actually, unless you want to buy agricultural land or work in few of the areas reserved to Moroccans, this dual citizenship will bring you nothing. Your taxes in Morocco won't be different, your right to education neither...

And when you go to Morocco, you don't need to show them how it works :D (or I misunderstood), but you need to enter with your new national ID

@MA_O_Maroc I am open to 💡 that works.

Please open doors for me to enter.

Thanks.
