Larnaca or Nicosia

Is anyone familiar with the areas of Nicosia (Republic side) and/or Larnaca? Due to recent (unfortunate) events, I have had to start looking for an alternative area to reside. I have only visited both areas, Larnaca for a short stay and Nicosia for a day trip.

I'm a city girl born and raised and so Nicosia is appealing, as it also seems to have nice green areas. But I'm also thinking it would be nice to be nearer the coast - as I previously resided in Paphos.

I would appreciate helpful advice.
