Sequence of steps to get Residency Card

Hello

can anyone give their input on the formal procedure and process towards getting the residency card from the date of landing in Portugal with D7 visa.

I have been approved for D7 retirement visa and now planning to land into Portugal to get my residency ..

Need to plan for the location to rent either Short term or long term depending on tge duration required to get the official residency card.

any input that address this particular time line issue is appreciated
