Divorce in Morocco

Evening all

I'm new here and hoping for some advice. I'm a British woman married to a Moroccan man. We both live in the UK and he is now a British national.

Reluctantly, I am seeking to divorce him and would like to divorce in Morocco. Is this possible as we both now live in the UK?

Also, would anyone here know which court I need to apply for the divorce in? I'm not familiar with the court set up and arrangements in Morocco.

We have been married for 10 years and have a child together but have been living apart for a year. He left the family home and refuses to come back. I still love him and I am certain he is not with anyone else, but after a year, I need to move on and I can't do that if still married. He is quite religious, and will not tell me he wants a divorce, so I am making the necessary steps myself!

@KittyKat81 you file in the court that you were married in, if you are in morocco. With that said, I'm not sure if you can file there since you both don't live there. I would definitely seek legal advise from a knowledgeable Moroccan attorney, especially since there is a child involved.

I am in the same situation as you i married a moroccan and we both now live in uk. We are legally divorced in this country but only islamically divorced in Morocco. I need/want to divorce over there.
