Welcome venkat2c,

have you read this thread: cost of living in Mauritius?

Lots of companies / offices are located in Curepipe, but I don't think it's the best place to live (quite humid)

It rains only once per year in Curepipe, but it lasts all year round. :D

Hi, i will be in Mauritius, in 2 weeks time, to work on a 6 months contract, i will be staying first at The Sands Resort, and after in a flat in Flic en Flac, can you tell me more about the place, and i am also looking for friends, I am italian, but i have lived in London for many years, and i don't know much about Mauritius and local custom. Any advice? Is it true that you have terrible mosquitos? What is the best thing against them? See u soon. Giuditta

the mosquitoes are terrible, especially for new visitors.
Outdoors, you can use repellents, indoors, the best solution are the little electric devices with little tablets.
