Overstaying 90 days in Italy

A friend I am helping is buying a property in Italy (she has already resided there for some years) To complete the sale of the new property she would need to stay an extra 2 days over the 90. Is this allowed? What is the penalty of doing so? Is there any way she can do this?

Not really allowed, they might be kind and let her off with a warning as its only 2 days. I would consult with the Embassy and ask them for advise.
