Hello there I'm a British citizen born and raised there married to a Moroccan lady who has now given birth my question is does my child automatically be given a British passport or not and I have been living in morocco for 9 months now but planning to go back to the UK any advice and help thank you

Bill Shepherd

Yes, it is termed citizenship by descent, I believe. No matter where in the world the children happen to be born they will be British citizens. You need to *register* their birth with the British authorities to qualify for this, though. Contact the British Outpost (aka Embassy) in Rabat for more details.

@Lostking98 Yes, your child can automatically be a British citizen if you were born in the UK or if you have British citizenship by birth, descent, or naturalization. You can apply for their British passport, but make sure you have the required documents like your British passport and the child's birth certificate. Since you're planning to return to the UK, contact the British consulate in Morocco for assistance with the application process. It’s advisable to check the specific requirements on the UK government website for more detailed information.
