Well I've been counting/watching. The third one is now out in the China sea,,,,,, 3 in 3 or 4 weeks and tracking windy we have another going to hit the north east coast of Luzon on Monday followed by another probably on Friday/Saturday morning,,,,, that will be one a week for the East coast and we generally cop the tail spin and foul weather on the West coast,,,,,, Why so many if there is supposed to be no climate change?
Cheers, Steve.
@bigpearl
The oceans this year are warmer than usual and is a growing trend so the experts say. This generates more heat leading to more violent storms. The South China Sea is no exception. I always thought Steve that where the Philippines is concerned they tend to form out in the Pacific and track north westwards.
I have been in the Philippines many times in November and rarely get hit with a Typhoon. No more than a Signal 3 anyway. Apparently Typhoon season officially ends in December but that might be about to change with global (sorry Mr T) warming. Hope I haven’t upset him.
Climate change Lotus and it matters diddly squat what the scientists as well as deniers say it is a fact and whether cyclic or man made matters little now as we have broken the 1.5C rise this year, now it seems 1.6 and the hottest year on record. Look at Coral bleaching and wild storms whether typhoon or hurricane frequency, world wide flooding while the Amazon basin dries up, it is what it is and we all need to be prepared to make changes in our lives to accommodate our situation now in a hotter more violent world.
Perhaps at my age of 65 I have realized that when my number is up that's it but I do care about my children and grandkids and what they have to deal with in the future.
OMO.
Cheers, Steve.

Climate change has been going on for thousands of years, million of years.
I don't remember anyone saying no climate change. Global warming & cooling is just the natural cycle of this blue marble.

Climate change deranged syndrome.

True Bob. But the last 50 years has seen an unprecedented increase in worldwide mean temperatures.
I guess there is a clue in there somewhere

No such clue, it's an endless cycle going back millions of years. 50 years is not enough of a window to make an assumption.
50 years is meaningless when you are talking the Earth's lifetime.

The climate is always changing according to long term data. One could hypothesize that increasing typhoon frequency in a 3 month period is linked to climate change or perhaps more likely due to natural climate cycles like el nino or la nina. Where people end up disagreeing is that human behavior has a major effect on climate change.
Bob, Mugteck we all have different views and I agree with natural climate change it's normally over thousands of years and not only animals migrated to better climates when humans came along we did the same thing, no different to moving to a better job.
Point is that things have changed and blinkers or no we can't modify it and now are faced with adapting and living with these changes.
Matters little whether climatic or man made our new world requires us to make changes in the way and where we live.
As said 5 and maybe 6 typhoons in as many weeks spells it out pretty well but the age old question,,,,, where is safe?
For us while the sea level is constant we will stay but if it rises a meter we will move on.
Cheers, Steve.
Lets make it the simplest common denominator . . . .If there never were humans on earth, climate change would still happen.
An interesting observation is that a higher % of over 50’s than under 50’s feel that humanoids are not responsible for global warming. A vast majority of Forum members are in the latter category.

The good news for you Bob is that Mr T has just announced that he has a vacancy in his climate change committee 🤣

Yes Dan, point is none of the locals living here for hundreds of years, perhaps thousands have never seen/reported the volume of typhoons and bad storms as they are seeing now.
Regardless and as said us plebians are powerless and I simply make a personal observation of how the weather has changed here over the 8 years we owned this property and simply note the increased frequency of typhoons hitting the east coast of the Philippines that ultimately affects us on the west coast here.
I do watch Fox, Cnn and ABC Australia and world wide catastrophes are increasing when it comes to weather and the unfolding disasters are far more frequent now than over my measly 65 years I have so far been granted.
The Generations that follow will have to deal with what this tiny blue marble hands out.
Cheers, Steve.

😂
Here what President Biden promises were.
(1) Reduce US greenhouse gases 50% below 2005 levels.
(2) Reaching 100% carbon pollution free electricity by 2035
(3) Net zero emissions economy by 2050
(4) Delivery 40% of the benefits from federal investments in climate and clean energy to disadvantage communities.
(5) Provide self licking ice cream cones for all his believers.
Get off the grass Bob, My OP never mentioned politics and self licking ice-creams and now you mention it I wonder all the ass lickers flocking to Mar-la-go for a taste?
My point is simple, this is where we are now and what to do, how to protect your family, we can't change the weather but we can prepare in many ways.
Cheers, Steve.
If you do a search for "climate change chart", you'll find (rather, I found) that the first couple of dozen(s) pages show results for the last ~50 years. It looks terrifying, and is in my opinion, meant to terrify you.
"Climate Change"(™) is big business, while (small case) "climate change" is a naturally occurring event not influenced by, nor caused by, human activity. I'm talking climate, not pollution.
Take a look at this chart to get a truer picture of climate data, not the "hockey stick" charts we're constantly shown.
You can argue all you want about the cause(s) and make ZERO effing progress for our children's futures. Or you can embrace that WHILE we're still using the hell out of fossil fuels we CAN MAKE PROGRESS to a cleaner future. How many idiots here remember the Hudson River was so chemically dirty people wouldn't swim or fish in it in the 70's. But thanks to cleanup (VIA REGULATIONS AND THE CLEAN WATER ACT) it's actually an enjoyable, fishable body of water today for our children to enjoy.
Progress, not perfection, takes time. May as well start,,,,, oh yea, that's what Biden was trying to do.
The point was made earlier that animals, plants etc. and humans used to have the luxury of migrating North South East West when the climate changed, making it appropriate to do so. Animals and plants can still migrate to an extent but where they cannot then they become extinct.
Unfortunately humans cannot migrate in most cases and certainly not in the numbers that would desire to as a result of rising sea levels, increased storms, significant drought, unprecedented floods and extreme wildfires, resulting in diminished food scarcity etc.
Forget the last Billion years of planetary evolution that coincidentally created the perfect conditions for humans to evolve, what we do know is that since the start of modern human evolution on this blue marble (somewhere between 100,000 and 400,000 years ago) there has never been such a dramatic increase in CO2 and temperature.
While some can adapt in situ, for many the best adaption is to migrate higher and or cooler. Unfortunately, Mr. T (and others) have a problem with migration and, unless we do something now to reduce the effects of rising CO2, then that will soon become the largest human problem that will overshadow inflation, job security and national pride.
IMHO the “humanity” that I have grown with for 69 years has largely been replaced with a desire to become ignorantly informed because that is easier and more pleasurable - because it is easier to flick through a mobile social media page than to imbibe one's surroundings and empathize with the World around. Also IMHO, humanity as we know it has about two (maybe three) generations going forward to either, change or, to become largely extinct due to conflict. I feel sad for my own children as they are some of those who have chosen the easier and more pleasurable route, I can only blame myself for not finding the right recipe to guide their learning.
No need to blame yourself Martyn as the world has changed very quickly and us old fogies are powerless to share wisdom. I look back on my growing years and simply paid the higher fuel costs, food costs and never thought much of it, as we get older and maybe wiser we tend to see all the writings on all the walls and where we are all headed. As you say sad for our progeny trying to eke out a life in what is now a very competitive world.
Take pleasure in what you had and enjoy your retirement years.
Cheers, Steve.
