          Nice to know Jakarta is the safest city in Indonesia.  Probably because the traffic jams do not allow any high speed accidents.

I'm not sure how reliable crowd-sourced info is for safety "statistics", since it's mostly perception, and there are so many variables. You might feel very safe.. until you're not. But it probably gives a reasonable indication.

DAVAO CITY – Davao City was ranked the third safest city in Southeast Asia in 2024 according to crowd-sourced platform Numbeo.

The Safety Index utilizes user-contributed data that evaluates cities based on their crime rates, police efficiency and residents’ perceptions of safety.

Last year, Davao City ranked second with a safety index of 72.4. In 2022, it also ranked third with a safety index of 71.6.

The Davao City Police Office said in a statement Monday that it is committed to ensuring safety and security while acknowledging the support of village officials, residents and the local government. (PNA)

Davao is number 1 in safety? How safe is the region, for people who look like Westerners, just outside the city boundaries?

I live in Davao and travel throughout most of  Mindanao with out concern. Admittedly I don’t travel to  the provinces bordering the Sulu sea.
