The best all-round solution (rent, location, condition) is if you're in Mauritius. Then you can look around and decide.

To decide via the internet is tricky because photographs only tell part of the story and you can easily be over-charged. Often key parts are ignored.

However, if the internet is the only way, then I propose you get hold of an agent (they're all over the internet on Mauritius forums) and give them your requirements. Then, insist on a livestream walk-thru and make sure a property ticks all the boxes that are important to you.

As mentioned above, you need to be in Mauritius to get he best one for your needs. Make a list of essentials first.

Look around the various options, find out what you really need and then decide. There are lots of Agents who can help.

Best wishes.

Thanks for your responses.

I will be in Mauritius when looking but really just wanted to know how the system works, is it through traditional agents with premises,  like uk, or are there lot's of free lance ones ?

Thanks again

@craigconley

Lots of proper agents like in the UK. Well, mostly.

There are individual agents also.

There are websites you could explore.

Please send me a direct message for those websites - I do not know if I can put them here.

There are links in this forum too.

Best wishes.

I have an agent who helped me find a lovely long-term rental, if you are interested in his contact.

Hello,

In addition to what has been said already, please find some links to real estate agents and real estate websites in the Mauritius Guide page 81

I would suggest that when looking for a rental, make sure to check that they have a water tank/réservoir (with a pump) that ensures a constant water supply.

Also take photos of the premises before moving in.

Hi Craig

Can I know where you want to stay.

Otherwise there is an appartment in north Grand Bay with ensuite bedroom closed to sea, clinics, shops, pharmacy and so on.

If you are interested let me know.
