Hi,

is it popular to share a flat in Hamburg ?

What advice would you give to those looking for shared accommodation in Hamburg?

Can you recommend specialized local websites or newspapers?

By the way, keep in mind there is a flat share/house share section in the Classifieds ;)

Thank you in advance for your participation and advice!

Hi Christine :)

Well i am finally in Germany since October as planned, and now i am planning to settle in Hamburg before January 2012.

I have experienced since these 2 months that to find an apartment in Hamburg is expensive and can take time.

One has to be prepared to pay a "Kaution" or "Genossenschaftsanteile", plus sometimes "provision" or "courtage fee". In many cases I have seen that the kaution/provision is minimum 2.38 times the monthly "cold-rent".

But if someone is lucky, he can find directly with a landlord and be exempted from "makler fees" (broker fees.

Anyways, here are a few sites that i found useful in my search for apartments:

immonet.de

kleinanzeigen.ebay.de

immobilienscout24.de
saga-gwg.de/opencms/opencms/saga/pages/mietwohnungen.html

immowelt.de

I guess there are some more that could be interesting, and if ever i come through i will definitely update the community :)

Cheers!!
