Hi everyone,

I'm looking at the legal background to open a small bakery/pastry business in Amman, as a private individual.
Where can I get the info regarding license, terms and conditions?
Also, looking at the rent opportunities in the shopping mall.

Would appreciate any advice/help/ideas.

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards,
D.

Hi there,

I think your first stop would be the Ministry of Industry.

Good luck

Renting a place in a commerical mall sounds okay. But be careful about renting from private individuals. I know of a couple of instances, one for food, another for sewing and clothing alterations, where people rented from private individuals, and, once they saw how good the businesses were going, one tripled the rent so the person had to move out and start again in another area, which meant she lost her old customers, and the other kicked the guy out, even though he had a lease etc, and took the business for himself. He tried to get compensation but the other family got the police involved. I don't know how things work in Jordan that this could happen, but the guy who leased the shop ended up losing his whole investment.

it sound a great idea , however i advice your first to choice a good name (it will be a great if its franchising of trade mark), then you need to check with: ministry of commerce and health (as you will sell food)i advice you to open it on west amman -however you nedd abig amount of money -as renting there cost around 10000jordan dinar or more per year
