Hello,
My husband is going for an interview in a few days and he'd like to see some areas of the City to check some apartments or houses. We haven't been to Romania and don't know the City or the areas that we should concentrate. We don't have kids and like to be in the City, near a nice park to jog or any green areas. Does the expat community in the Oil business live in one specific area of the City? Also is it a dog friendly place to take our dog there? We lived in England and traveled with our dog very easy. Also lived in Italy, Dubai and Malaysia and didn't take a dog with us. Here in the US is very easy to find rental accomodatios that take dogs.
I've so many questions but so far the most important is to know about save and nice areas to live in the City:)
We're very excited about this opportunity because we've been in the US almost 7 years!!! 5 in Alaska, one in Houston and one in Oklahoma City. But right now we're ready to go back to Europe because we loved it!!

Hi Claudia,

There isn't really an 'expat' neighbourhood in Bucharest, although a lot of expats (those with money or an accommodation allowance, at least) rent an apartment in one of the newly-built compounds. There are some located in the city, and many to the north (generally considered more 'upmarket' than the south. However, a regular block or villa is fine too - it's not particularly dangerous or anything here. Scruffy in place, sure.

There are quite a few parks around Bucharest, but I think the one that bests suits your needs in Herastrau in the north. It has a lake, you can rent a rowing boats amd bicycles in the summer, it has plenty of space for dog walking, cycling, roller skaing, and jogging. I think it even has a special area where you can let your dog off its leash.

A lot of the neighbourhoods around Herastrau Park are quite well-to-do, so you could probably find an apartment there quite easily, if you budget allows. It also has quite good access to the downtown area (where a lot of the bars and restuarants are) by metro.

Traffic is also a bit heavy in Bucharest, so you might consider a location that allows easy access to your (or your husband's) office. Do you know anything about the area where his (future) company's office is located?

All the best

Above suggestion, close to parc Herastrau is good.
Soseaua Nordului - is street name, Aron Cotrus,etc... Nordului  nearby french school, but keep a bit away from the club= fitness club / french school due to jam trafic while school entry- exit
Hope is helpful.
