hi,
i'm Iranian and i wanna marry with my boy friend in turkey,but i found some information that says get Residence by marriage take a long time ,and by this Residence you couldn't stay at turkey cause the process of getting Residence by marriage take 3 or 5 years, could u give me some advice to what should i do?

Hi Nazi,

Until last year it used to take only 3 years to become a citizen, but now you need to stay married for 5 years. Plus I should add that you need to live in Turkey with your husband during 5 years and sometimes officials/officers have right to check how your marriage is going.

Since it was easy to get citizenship before this rule, some people were abusing it and they were getting married with women to bring them as prostitute. As a precaution this situation, they can bother you and your husband sometimes to check if you are really married or only for citizenship.
