I have a lovely villa with a lovely pool which I would love to sit around and get a tan BUT there are so many flies that I have to go inside before I look like a corpse.

Does anyone out there know a way of getting rid of these pesky things before I go insane???

hi Jo

the sweet things attract the flies ;)

Actually I don't have this problem in my pool, but I think strong smells & maybe Alcohol are attracting the flies..

you may change the timing Also,  early morning & late afternoon are flyless hours...

hope it helps :)

You can one of them lights which attracts flies and as soon as they touch it, it kills them. It's evil but it works :)

Josnuggles

Thanks guys, we have no outside elec for one of the lamps and I don't think they would be attracted to it in daylights.

A lady I know said to put a slice of watermelon somewhere so they are attracted to that and not me.

I have noticed the mornings are better so will give that a go instead of lunchtime

Thanks again :-)

watermelon !! the flies will party then :)

you welcome :-)

Josnuggles

As long as they party somewhere other than on my face, in my ears and all over me I'm happy. Totally fed up of looking like a corpse lol

Are you talking about Mosquitos or flies? Funny enough I haven't encountered one mosquito since I arrived in Bahrain and I was so worried that they would eat me to death as they always love me wherever I go.

Flying insects do not like smoke. So light an incense stick/bar while lying by the pool; this might drive them away.

Josnuggles

Thanks Vido. Definately flies and not mozzies. Will give that a go

Ok, I've tried the Aloe Vera and the watermelon. I've tried getting covered in chlorine and staying dry and I've tried all times of the day - these pesky little things just dive bomb me. Not one single fly on the watermelon :-(

Anyone know of a fly free villa to rent??

What about a lovely pest control? The Landlord should provide it each six months. I never saw a lovely fly around my lovely house...:D

Josnuggles

The landlord does pest control. The flies aren't in the house. They are by the pool and have taken a real liking to me :-(

anna66

What??? Your Landlord controls the pest in your  house??? I mean of course OUTDOOR (by the Pool or wherever you want) DISINFESTATION...
Lovely Greetings

Josnuggles

She carries out pest control around the outside perimiter of the house to stop ants and cockroaches. Not sure what you can do with flies though as they are in the air and not on the ground.
