Seeking Guidance - Restaurant business

Post new topic

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum and was curious if anyone can let me know how much it will cost to run a restaurant in HCMC?

I'm looking for the highs and lows, or average cost of a retail lease space and employee salary in HCMC. Any additional cost or shared experience you'd think is valuable would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

You are asking the near impossible, a total intangible.

What I suggest you try is a little 'social engineering' and seek out Foreign owned restaurants of a size similar to what you have in mind.

Is it a 'greasy' spoon, a cafe, a specialist cuisine, etc. This will allow you to determine the nature of your staff. Obviously if you are going with something a little exotic, you'll need a more experienced (and expensive) cook.

Count the staff, the number of gas burners, etc. Then seek out the owner, manager and start your 'engineering'.

Don't approach with a list of questions, make them sound spontaneous. Forget about asking for rent, that is easily ascertained from rental agents.

Then you have to attend to the 'business' end. Your status in the country, corporate structure, city permits, etc. Remember, TP HCM has a hot Health Department who actually go out checking and are known to not take bribes, etc.
