Is there any info already on here about importing a classic beetle into malta 1972 and not owned for 2years

The import of a classic car to Malta is not much different than any other used car - it's only cheaper :)

Prior to registration as classic car (i.e. from 35 to 50 yrs) it needs to be certified from ADT Vintage Board. For this you have to sumbit declaration form VEH15 and some pictures showing the "original" condition of chassis, interior and engine. The form also shows you if your car (generally) qualifies as classic car.
The Board then inspects the car (via photos is possible) and establishes the Registration Value RV.
Then you have to pay about 25-30% (depending on motor size) of the RV as Registration Tax (without VAT and no minimum value).
The annual Licence Fee is about 40-60,- (again depending on motor size)
