Hi, I'm Ali and my mate Kirsten are moving to sharm Aug/Sept this year. We have been there 2 times now and will be back end of April for 18 days, that will be the last time before our move. We are hoping to get jobs, apartment that we can afford. We understand its not like being on holiday and we are fine with this, we know there will be ups n downs and we will have to work at it. Iv posted this to get advice from people who have made the move, help with info on jobs, apartments. And just to hear everyones personal experiences.

• What visa do we need to apply for?
• What kind of jobs are available with holiday companies, or more normal jobs (quite fancy transfer rep or something like that)?
• Should we open up an egyptian bank account?
• Do we need egyptian driving licences?
• Looking for 2 bed apartment (maybe 2 bathroom aswell!!)
• Some say we should have more languages!!! We speak English and small arabic but this should get better with time spent there!

Anything else that you feel would be good advice please feel free to let us know. And if theres anyone that feels they can help us out with info when we are over in April that would be fab.

We do have a handful of good friends over there already who are willing to help but its always good to hear from people who have been in the same situ.

Happy blogging peeps :)

hi!
you need to get a 1 month visa at the airport, and then go to Al Tor to get a 6 month or 1 year tourist visa. as for work, the company you'll be working with shall provide you with a work permit.

lots of jobs are available! nearer the time,if you have a look online you will find the job you want! if you know people out here, they could start asking around for transfer reps... or post an ad on sharmwomen and people should get in touch!
i'm not too sure about opening a bank account as i haven't done it - unless you're earning a high salary i wouldn't worry about opening one.
pioneer-property is a good site for properties! for a 2 bedroom it can be as low as 2,500LE per month.
having many languages isn't essential. i can only speak english and small arabic too - this is fine for my job and outside of my job.

sorry i couldn't be any more help! which part of sharm would you be living in?
