"Dear Mr Juan Herrera,
Thank you for your enquiry to VETASSESS. Unfortunately I am unable to give you advice as to whether an application you make will be successful, however I can give you information about our assessment criteria that may help your decision.
All VETASSESS occupations have been coded as A, B, C, D, E or F. Occupations are classified by groups according to their requirements.
The nominated occupation you are enquiring about, Insurance Broker (ANZSCO Code 222113), is a Group C occupation.
Group C Occupations require a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational level of at least an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma, in a highly relevant field to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, the applicant must have at least one year of employment at an appropriate skill level in a field closely related to the nominated occupation, completed in the five years before the date of application for a Skills Assessment. Two years of such employment is required if the qualification/s has a shortfall in content relevance.
Pre- and post-qualification employment:
· Pre-qualification employment may also count for occupations in Group C provided that it was completed after the required skill level was achieved:
· Three years of relevant employment meets the entry level for Group C
Whether pre- or post-qualification, the employment which counts needs to be within the five years preceding an application to VETASSESS and to be at an appropriate skill level for the occupation.
Although ANZSCO states that at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above, this does not apply to our skills assessments. For migration purposes, additional years of employment cannot make up for the lack of a formal qualification at the required level.
I can also refer you to our advisory service which can assist you in this matter in more detail. Please follow the link for the same: http://www1.vetassessadvisory.com.au/SRGO/Online/
This service has been introduced because many of our applicants have complex enquiries about how the skills assessment application and assessment process relates to their particular circumstances and nominated occupations. This service should assist applicants to make informed decisions about their application for a skills assessment and to prepare applications with correct documentation which are assessment ready.
A fee is payable for using the Advisory Service but applicants using the service receive a discount on a subsequent application for a Skills Assessment. Using the Advisory Service should streamline your application process by saving you time and resources. The fee payable for each enquiry session is AUD $130. This is non-refundable. A one-off discount of AUD $50 applies to your first subsequent application to VETASSESS for a skills assessment with a nominated occupation in the general professional category i.e. for a non-trade occupation.
