British folks in France- the bureaucratic maze

Hey there, I'm seeking some help from Brits in France. From my understanding, there's some contingency that makes it more difficult to work freely in France despite being part of the EU.

Anyone know exactly what is required, and how to go about starting the paper process?

Some background: I'm American but hold a British passport. I'm here to learn French, and afterward would like to find a proper job in France. In the meantime, I'd like to work part time and get myself some health insurance as well.

If you're a UK passport holder there's no barrier to your working here other than convincing a French employer that they want someone whose French isn't brilliant. Once you've got a job you apply to the CPAM for a social security number. Look at these websites:
