I have a friend who is under contract in BANGUI (RCA) where actually it is really hard for her as civil war is starting little by little.
She is French and works at the Embassy. She would like to come back to France without losing all the benefits she has earned. Is it possible? is there anybody on this forum who has ever experienced this kind of situation abroad? normally her contract is due to end in 2014. France does not want to bring back the expatriates. Her house was completely sacked yesterday night. Fortunately she was not there...

Thank you for your replies.

Hi Lysiane,

Since your friend works for the French Embassy I wouldn't worry too much. Regardless of the contract the French government has a legal obligation to protect all French citizens in the country, this is especially true for their own employees.

Certainly, if the French feel the situation in the Republic of Central Africa is no longer conducive to remaining in the country the Embassy staff will be among the very first to be evacuated.

Has your friend discussed the situation with either the Ambassador or at least her immediate supervisor, passed her concerns and information regarding sacking of her home along the chain of command? This would be the very first step in any case. Getting the problem out in the open is the very first step.

Muito obrigada..eu falo português porque trabalhei perto de Sao Paulo.

Thanks a lot. But getting an information is really difficult as My friend is a black woman working in a WHITE embassy . communication is really really really difficult. She had never thought about discrimination before...but now she knows what it means...so it is almost impossible to talk to his supervisor who considers that black people are born to be slaves and servants and nothing more...yes..it is still true to find this kind of people in 2013....in Africa ...with an imperialist mind...

She can't find any help at the Embassy that's the reason why I posted in Expat.com to get some help for her...

I really hope the situation will calm down.

Thanks a lot for your help.
