Build a octagon shaped house ?

We have bought a lot in Placencia and were just looking at some homes while there. nothing serious as we are not ready to start building yet . But we were told that to build a roundish house stands up better against hurricanes. Has anyone built one ? know of a builder ? We are looking for concrete or maybe block..

I have a wonderful octagon floor plan.I get back to Belize on Monday,and I'll dig it up..
