Hi,
Is Ngon Restaurant delicous?. What kind of food is the best.
Would anyone recommend me?. Thanks

Thao Hong

You can try Ngon restaurant on Pasteur st. (Not Nam ky khoi nghi st)
It is not so delicious but still good. You can try many kind of food from different areas of Vietnam. The price is quite expensive with some vietnamese people. You should try!

Hi Thao Hong
Thanks for your advice.

If you are unfamiliar with Asian foods, Ngon is the place to be.  But, if you are good with eastern flavors and want to taste the real Vietnam, then it is not.  Not only the joint is expensive, but it is also un-Vietnamese.  The foods there are too westernized, or watered-down if you will.

I'm not a fan of Ngon. I don't think its horrible but I think its badly over rated. It's basically a tourist trap. Cuc Gach Quan, in my opinion is much better in every way from the atmosphere to the decor and of course the food. It's a beautiful set up in there. Be sure to make reservations, especially on the weekends!

Thanks for all your reply. I really appreciate about that. I'll try every thing to know. Will try Ngon Restaurant and Cuc Gach Quan. Again, thanks for your recommend.

Dear,

On the top floor of Ngon restaurant < Nam Ky Khoi Nghia > have very wonderful coffe shop, you can see the light of all city, stars & moon.

And i think 1 restaurant you can try : Din Ky Restaurant - 137 C Nguyen Trai, dict 1....Its realy nice & open until 2 am. Another restaurant where you can enjoy Vietnam foods is Hai Lua Restaurant - 12B Ngo Van Nam, Ben Nghe Ward, Dict 1...Not also foods ok, you can enjoy nice atmosphere & the staffs very charming with tradition dress: Ao Dai, Ao Ba Ba

I like the "Xoi Ga Roti" there

Cuc Gac is a complete rip off... I don't care that Brad & Angelina went there, it's way too hyped up. Yes, it's good, but it's not great and overpriced for what it is.

Both Ngon Restaurant on Pasteur and Quan An Ngon across from the Reunification Palace are shadows of the old Quan Ngon from a few years ago (located across from the Reunification palace). That was delicious.

I've tried both, and I think Quan An Ngon is slightly better, but on my trip in the Winter I only went to each once and never went back.

This restaurant is famous for varieties of Vietnamese foods only, not for the "quality" of foods. Always a long line up to get table (in the past, at Ngon Nam Ki Khoi nghia ), plus slow served so ppl are all hungry and that's why they may recommend "delicious" afterward

You can try Truly Hue behind Ben Thanh Market, or Ba Mien resto

Ha ha
I can definitely say that the male eaters go there for the "atmosphere" only. We normally joke that the dresses the girls wear there give a rather visual illustration to the name "Hai Lua" ("Two rice corns").

Before I like go to quan ngon, but since I know how they wash their plate, bowl, and glass when in quan ngon Hanoi, then I never went there again. Maybe it not same with others quan ngon.

I think maybe it's different in each area.
