Hi,
I have a friend, he is a American, he used to live in VN about a year, before that he lived in Korea for 4 years. Last year he came back to America. He transited in Korean and he got caught right on the airport because he brought some marijuana (the polices waited for him because some guy reported him sell marijuana). He was in jail for 2 months and paid a fine, after that they deported him then he came back to America. Now he wants to come back VN but he afraids that Korean government reported him to VNese government so when he comes back he will got caught again, like you know VNese prison is horrible and he doesnt have enough money to pay a fine or...whatever again. If he got caught in korea, it will be ok but he got caught RIGHT ON THE AIRPORT  so that thing makes he wonder that he can be back VN or not.
If anybody have same experience, please share, thank alot

Your friend may have been reported to American authorities concerning his arrest.  It is very possible that his conviction was reported to other countries so Vietnam authorities will know when he tries to enter.  This may make them check him and his bags very closely.  They may also refuse to let him enter the country.  It is up to the government to decide this.

Better you should keep away from these kind of guys! according to law carrier of drugs is a criminal. Even if someone put it in his bag or he purposefully carry it.

Find another friend if you don't want to face the firing squad in Vietnam. In most South East Asian countries, it is mandatory death penalty for carrying drugs.

I'm personally indifferent to marijuana as I don't think it's any worse than alcohol. While I'm sure he is a nice guy, unfortunately and frankly speaking, your friend was an idiot for trying to take marijuana outside of Vietnam, let alone through bloody Korea which is up there with Japan for its zero-tolerance paranoia about even "soft drugs."

I want to say that it will remain a Korean issue since the arrest happened in Korea with maybe a note that the US may or may not take into account. The big thing will be that your friend most likely has a stamp reading "DEPORTED" from Korea with an explanation attached. I can see that leading to some uncomfortable questions should he try to go to Vietnam.

The first question is whether your boyfriend (I'm making the call) will even get a visa issued to him. (Likely not)

If he does, he'll probably get extra scrutiny when he arrives. If he even makes it that far, if he's completely clean, then who knows?

But the question is... is his life, or yours, worth it? If he was stupid once, no telling how stupid he'll be again, with the possibly that he'll draw you into his circle of stupid.

If he got two months jail I would say he was carrying very little dope. I would say that he would of been listed in Korea for his crime, but it sounds like a really petty crime by the amount of time he received. If he wants to find out if he can get back in, apply for a VOA, the immigration will do a search and if his name is flagged they will decline. I find it ironic that Viet Nam  may reject a person over a small amout of dope, yet it keeps letting in people from Nigeria who are constantly commiting crimes.
