I have got a job in Emax landmark company as a sales man with the salary of 250bd. I need to know that how much cost for food and rent per month with sharing and any opinion on company?

Josnuggles

Hundreds of answers on the forum.

Too many people don't read previous posts with all the answers they need

Farhaz

I know Josnuggles. Perhaps because they are new to the expat-blog and do not realize most questions have already been answered before.

Most people know how to search and research before posting. Sorry I am highly patient but the same question 5 times a day per topic wears me down

Farhaz

Fully understand ... especially when its just a couple of regulars such as yourself who do most of the responding. But let me tell you, I read most of the posts by you and the other regulars and can say that I have nothing but great respect, appreciation and gratitude for the great job you guys are doing.

Best regards.

Thank you so much for your kind words

Do not come to Bahrain for a 250BD salary. Really not worth it.

Josnuggles

500BD minimum

Agree with other posters, 250bd per month is not enough, try to get higher and maybe some other inclusions like accommodation, health insurance, transport etc.

Farhaz

Whilst I too agree that BD 250 is too little, the fact is that this is the typical pay scale for certain jobs and there are so many people who earn these scales. Tough life :(

Dear all,

Let's not forget to put things into perspective. 250 BHD may look low from where we come but in Sri Lanka, as per 2012/2013 data the AVERAGE salary is 5500 USD a year, means 173 BHD a month.
If the candidate for expatriation is below the average is his country, 250 BHD a month can be a good move.
In Bahrain, many workers, watchmen, houseboys/maids are earning less than a 100 BHD and as sad as it is, it's much more that what they used to have in their country and they even manage to send money back home.

In a nutshell Latheefa, it depends on your current situation. If you feel it can improve your today's way of living, go for it !
If it would be roughly the same but in another part of the world, then remember that roots make a difference, having family and friends around too ;D

Cheers

Latheefa, definitely take note of what Olivier is saying, many people live on less than 250bd per month here but hopefully working in retail you could negotiate a better package. You really have to weigh up if it is better than your current situation. Best of luck.

This is all about personal choices, but someone being able to live on their country for less than 250BD does not necessarily mean they can do it in Bahrain. Yes, technically you can manage living here for that money, but Bahrain is way more expensive than his country and I don't think it's worth changing your country of origin for this much money, unless you really want to run away from your own country.

@ latheefa - I feel all the points here are really valid and its down to you to weigh up the options now given alot of input has been given.

On another note, i've seen such questions being asked before and if you can push for more (not too much as you dont want to ruin your chances), it may work out in your favor. ;)

Not so long ago i saw a similar question asked on the Bahrain forum. One of the Animators asked them to push for more and before you know it, they did and got more.. You may or may not get more, but you wont find out until you try.. :)

Good Luck..

You will not be able to have any sort of accommodation, life or good food on that money

Olivier-France

Hi Latheefa,

It depends on where you will live.
I know some Indian employees sharing accommodations downtown Manama behind the souq for 40 BHD a month. I think you will be able to find. The issue will be to find your way when reaching.

I'm surprised that Emax Landmark do not provide accommodation. Did you ask them ?

Cheers
