hello to all, I posted some thing like this on the main site I think here is more suitable.my question is what would the job prospects be like for a 45yr old man with a good second level
education and 28yrs work experience in construction, logistics and telecommunications, some real advice would be appreciated
I am from Dublin Ireland and austerity and bad governance is killing me and my country and I need to work, Norway has always
interested me as a place to live and work, I have a basic understanding of the language as a family member lived there for years in Oslo and he taught me the basics but I have begun a proper course to learn more anyway as I said some realistic advice would be appreciated .. Thanks .. Dave.

Hello Dave,

I would say that an understanding of the language would be hugely beneficial, even though almost everyone understands English. There have been some newspaper stories about Irish immigration to Norway. I seem to remember some scandal involving Irish builders appearing in the newspapers some months ago. So it looks like it is possible. I don't think that it is easy to do. I also think that Norway might be about to hit some economic trouble of its own, which won't help matters.

You can read about job vacancies on www.finn.no or www.nav.no. That will give you some idea about what's available. If possible, I would recommend trying to get into the oil/offshore industry. Perhaps your logistics skills could be put to use there.

Good luck.
