What are  the  cost effective  way of transferring money  from Ghana to UK please  suggest?

I heard that transfering money from Ghana to other part of the world is very difficult as Govt. laws required to have proper proof of from which source you got this money.

I can´t help you on this one but I have a question on a related topic.
Are there any banks that have Visa cards that can be used in Europe? Stanbic´s card does not work, how about Barclays?

MargaritaB

Ecobank is the only bank with a VISA Gold credit card.
I know other banks do VISA, but it's not a credit card and Ghana Commercial Banks does MasterCard.
Barclays have recently launched VISA, but I think you have to 'qualify' for it....whatever that means....LOL! I know that to have VISA at SGSSB you need to have a min. of 2,000-3,000 in the a/c at all times or something like this...
I’ll be going for Barclay VISA, so will let u know how that works!

I asked my partner to check up on the Visa card at Barclays but according to the bank it is only an international debit card and not a credit card. He already has one of those on his UK bank account. Looks like we might have to go with Ecobank!

Please let me know if you find out more. I thought it was weird with a VISA that does not work outside Ghana. Have not tried it though, perhaps we should.
The qualification aspect sounds interesting, lol.

Ghanaians here (in Europe) are using the more informal way of sending money. You pay someone your side who has cash on the other side and someone collects it for you. Then there is a small fee that you pay the person who helped you out. I wouldn´t recommend it unless you get help from a reliable Ghanaian since there is no security,
