Hi all! Ive travelled to and through for a few years now ( living iut of a suitcase) but this time, Im staying for a bit in my rather comfortable but bland and sterile flat. I'm packing for a long term stay- just wondering what you USA expats wish you had packed to take over there? Funny, a gal I met in Abu Dabi recently wished for pure vanilla extract and US measuring cups and spoons for her baking hobby. Seriously- give me ideas of what's NOT available or readily had that related to the simplest household items ( ie table cloths) to just stuff in general ...I'm not asking about what to pack in general because this is obvious depending on your family needs, interests and work. I am referring to the could-woulda-shoulda list. Appreciate the candid commentary. Thanks in advance!

honestly, the only thing i cant find is a good sifter. we got a cheap one, but it isnt great.

and an NTSC xbox, but im sure you dont care about that.
other than that i brought all my electronics and stuff. We finally found the little sheet garters (elastic band that clips on your sheets at the corner to keep them tight)

You can eventually find everything here but sometimes after a good deal of searching around and often at a higher cost.

Something I always bring are the large containers of aspirin/tylenol available in USA. Here, you can only buy packages of 12 at a time.

Also, something you can't get here (you'll laugh) are those 'twisty' things we get all the time in the USA with baggies, trash bags, etc. Amazing how often you need one of those for open bags!

Bring sensible walking/work shoes because they're difficult to find here (mostly what's available for women here are flashy high heels). I also bring extra pairs of my favorite brand of 'undies' from home.
