Not sure if this will stop the problems in the banking sector, it sure sends a very firm message to others who are thinking about corrupt activities.

I doubt the banking sector in USA is in as much turmoil as the Vietnamese one is. My girlfriend works in banking management and the stories of how things work are just mind numbing.

I was thinking about the financial crisis a few years ago where the mortgage and housing bubble wiped out a lot of the so called middle class wealth.

It infuriates that the bankers who caused the collapse a few years ago not only didn't go to jail, but had their own losses reimbursed by taxpayers.  I praise VN for treating financial crime like any other.

It really comes to one thing, these SOE's are owned by the people supposedly, so therefore these guys are stealing from the pockets of the average VN citizen.

I take your point about the financial crisis, pity the big boys always get let off. Same in USA as here, Im sure there was someone higher then this guy, but because he is so high in government he/she cant be touched.
