Ok, any of you out there brought your "guard dogs"?  I have 4 small Maltese's (the largest is 13 pounds, others are real small) that we want to bring.  I have read a few areas that indicate a health certificate signed my a USA vet addresses to "someone" and then you apply for the animal permits.  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Here are some helpful links on the subject:

I just came from California with my Black Lab and a cat. My experience was very pleasant, no problems at all.

Good luck.

Thank you glada.  perhaps it was the cologne you were wearing; lol

GREAT information and web sites.  Thank you again.

Are there any updates on this subject?  Were you able to bring your dogs?

I have my Maltese back home in California, staying with my mom for now, but I swear I can't live without her!   I would like to know more on how and if you were able to do this... please keep me posted!

Thank you!

I posted earlier this week about importing a Yorkie, got the same information for PetRelocators, sent them an online query and this is the response.

[i]Thanks for your online inquiry.  Unfortunately the Yorkshire Terrier is on Saudi Arabia's list of "Banned Dog Breeds". I'm unsure the reasoning behind it; however it is stated on their pet import requirements from the official Independent Pet and Animal Transportation Association International, inc. (please see down below).

I'm sincerely sorry, I wish there was some advice I could offer you or some sort of "work around". My heart goes out to you.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

I wish you all the very best,

Molly

I have recieved a similar message from two other pet relocation service around Houston. We were given a naame of a person in Bahrain that brings them there first and then imports into Saudi. It sound a little risky so we may reconsider attempting it. The message does not specifically call out Maltese but they would probably be lumped under the "toy" catagory.

If you happen to find out something different please let me know.

Really funny to read that Boxers are banned in KSA as I personally know people who had a boxer in Khobar a couple of years ago! This is really the best breed of dogs I have ever had (my 3 children were raised with boxers in the house and never had a problem!)

Probably because they are scared of your fierce animal (lol) and a smile for alleycat!!:)

I would love to know what you ended up doing, and if you were able to bring in your 4 Maltese... please keep me posted, as I am determined to bring mine from Los Angeles.

Thanks!

Well; I am still in the USA awaiting my Visa from the Embassy in DC.  I was supposed to be there by the 4th of September!!!  I want to get over there for a few months and get established before I attempt to bring the dogs(wife) over.  I might not reading all of the blogs about what women "cannot" do.  I am not complaining in any way and will always stay positive.  I did receive a lot of GREAT information from these posts.  Sorry for such a long "non-answer" so I will keep you in the loop.

Regards.

I've seen lots of Yorkshire Terriers here and many small breeds I can't name, I doubt the accuracy of that list to be honest? Or how else did the dogs get here?

For people with animals or wanting animals and living in Riyadh, this is a very helpful animal charity organization.
