Savings Bank Account with least charges and maximum security

Post new topic

allwyn

Hi all.

I am Allwyn from Mumbai arriving in Brussels with family in March-April 2014.

In India, the government (public sector) banks offer guaranteed safety of one's savings account along with low maintenance charges compared to private banks.

How is the situation in Brussels ?

Are there any government banks, or are all banks private ? How are the charges levied ?

I am interested in a bank with low charges, guaranteed safety and standard services offered like netbanking, debit card, chequebooks and cash deposits.

Could anyone throw light on these queries ?

I am aware that deposit rates are almost nil compared to India where it's a minimum 4% annually. So, fixed deposits do not interest me. Just a normal Saving Account as in India.

Hoping for replies.

Regards, Allwyn.

ING, Dexia and KBC (and many others) has savings accounts. All banks has the statement of charges published in their websites.

https://www.ing.be/en/retail/Pages/index.aspxhttps://www.belfius.be/common/nl/iwscom … guage.htmlhttps://www.kbc.be/site//~E/Private_ind … YPE=header

I use ING and am pretty satisfied with the services.

They offer netbanking, debit and credit card, etc. Cheques are really not in use here, as I experienced.

Hope this helps..

Also BNP bank.

You got lots of options.

However, don't forget to spend always your money and enjoy life. With the rising inflation in this world, it is not worth it to save much these days.

Good luck

A Google search of banks in Belgium will find you the information you seek

For questions on Savings accounts rates you should check every bank's rate. A website does that already : GuideEpargne
I am at KeytradeBank since 2003. Free account (current and savings), 100% free. Online
ING have the ING Lion Account which is an online servic only. I used to have one but I got so many problems with them that I closed my account.

You must check banks rates. You have different types of accounts and it depends on the quantity of money you have. They are called "Comptes à terme"
For a savings account check on GuideEpargne
You have other products, more risky, that give you a higher % than these two accounts
