Hi,

I am an Indian, currently living in New Delhi. I have been offered 9500 per month plus 450 transport allowance per month = 9950 per month + 15% EPF. My office would be in Cyberjaya. I have a 6.5 years old daughter. I have not yet made a decision to accept it. Can you please help me with the following:

1. Is it an ok salary? I aim to save atleast 4k per month after taxes and expenses.
2. I want to rent a house/condo where my family (including parents) can live comfortably. What would be the expected rent?
3. The max I can spend on housing (and I will need atleast 4 room house) is 3k per month. Which locality should I search?
4. Are their any Indian communities where I can live?
5. What are the online links to find condos/houses on rent?
6. What are good international schools where I can get my daughter admission?

Your help will be appreciated.

I think it may well be enough money to live on. But you say you need to support a wife, child and parents too? Have indian communities here in KL. Welcome to KL.

Schooling will be from RM1.5k to RM3k per month. This will obviously eat into your budget. Housing with 3 bedrooms in your budget may be available near Cyberjaya work place

short answer is do not take the job.

to answer ur questions,
1. 1000 will go on taxes, 1000 on schooling and 3000 on housing. if u intend to save 4000, i really doubt u will be able to survive in 500 ringgit. besides above mentioned expenses, u will have to think about car, petrol, food, electricity, water, internet, tv, medicals, and all the other things in life for four adults and one child. Not possible.

2. 2500-3000

3. try cyberjaya itself. its cheaper than kl city area. check out www.iproperty.com.my

4. quite a few indian families live in cyberjaya area.

6. try elc intenational school in cyberjaya. u shud be able to find the fees online.

Hi as a quick estimate after taxes, school fees and living coats you prob won't save much. Especially if you spend 3k on a house.

4k saving you are joking! The best international schools charge 5k per month. There are some really awful schools in kl. the indian one is one of the worst so don't consider that if you value your child's education. Schools in 1.5k a month range are not worth it. Home school instead
