Real estate agents - FEES

Post new topic

MariSas

Hi,

I'm moving to Amsterdam in April, so I'm currently dealing with real estate agents to find an apartment.

Is it normal that an agent charges a month's rent as their fee?

They seem to be charging tenants, not the landlords.

Is this how it works in The Netherlands?

Thanks for your advise!

Hi there,

It is quite normal that an agent charges a month's rent as their fee. (to the tenant)
The reason for this is the fact that the rental housing market in the Netherlands has almost always been a 'demand market'.

Cheers,

I agree with Sander. This is how it works if you want to have a relatively good location. Doing it in a different way will take longer and stuff. How are you holding up? Did you find an apartment?

Yes, it seemed to be the case with all agencies. Well, we had to bite the bullet and are now in a lovely apartment :) Thanks guys!
