Welcome to Malaysia. The BIS is a nice school but I heard from someone here that there are some problems with the teachers. Other popular schools are Garden International School in Mont Kiara. Have you thought about the French International School?

Dear Mike

Thank you for your prompt reply. We actually thought about the French International school...My childrens have always had english in school. They speak Portuguese as their mother tongue and english and french. We lived in South Africa before and now in France. They both go in Paris to an international school where english is the main language and french is taught twice a week so their level of french is pretty good also...But We would like them to keep the english as their main second language.Still finding out how much english is taugh in the French school

Oic, well then my own personal choice would be either Garden International School or the British International School. But then there are a lot of international schools in KL and I think others may have a different viewpoint on which is the best.

Any suggestions for good expats areas to live near the British International School?
I keep reading about Mont Kiara being a nice place to live but maybe a bit too farway to take the kids daily to school..
thoughts?

Since this topic has come round again, it may be worth thinking about the future and what are the likely levels of education your children will attain. Having professional parents probably means that at least a bachelor's degree will be achieved and potentially higher these days, as it seems it's necessary to have a master's or PHD to get really top jobs.  In that case I cannot stress strongly enough the importance of maintaining the best standard of English writing skills possible. Without those skills it will potentially be difficult to present the level of work and even theses that courses require. Researching is hard enough, but not being able to easily express the outcomes in appropriate language, is very frustrating. So whilst having several language skills is wonderful, maintaining English as the mode of education, now and in the future, cannot be undervalued.

Because you as a family have been living around the world, it is highly likely that one or other of your children will follow in your footsteps.  " Show me the boy at seven and I will show you the man "
