Mobile phone. Bring with me or buy in Tripoli?

I'm sure this one has been done to death, but I can't find it.

Is it better for me to bring a phone with me or buy one when I get there?

I don't want anything fancy; just a common or garden phone for making and receiving calls. I've got an old Motorola V220 (that can be unlocked) that I love and I'd like to use that if possible.

Any advice/info welcomed.

u can have ur Motorola unlocked, I guess

bring your phone and buy a SIM over here, no worries.

just make sure your phone is unlocked before you get here - or I suppose you can unlock over the internet.

Locally they don't seem to lock phones and as a result all the wee phone shops don't have the ability to unlock.
