New Mum in KL

Hi, I'll be moving to KL in August with my 7 months old baby and I was wondering about tap water. I am planning to use mineral water for his bottles but I was wondering about washing up and bath time. Do you boil water first? Do you use purifiers?

Also, I am planning to feed him organic fruit and veg and free-range meat. Is it easily accessible?

Many thanks for your answers. And if you have babies too, I'd love to hear from you and meet up.

Hello,
I don't have much information about 100% organic foods, but what I know that you can easily install water filter on the way of shower water pipe . And user water purifier for drinking water. Or put a big filer outside on the way of your main water pipe. Lately the quality of water in some areas is to low. Its not colorless anymore and you can see the yellowish color with eyes.

The tap water is high in chlorine and this is quite noticeable by its odour. It is quite safe to use it to shower and in small quantities to clean teeth. Some people have reported thinning and loss of hair though (similar to the middle east), so be careful what shampoos you use and go for well-known good quality ones. Bio-friendly bath products are easily found in Malaysia these days as it is the latest thing to be more green.  There are growing amounts of organic food in supermarkets as well. There are specialised shops and some deliveries to the door of vegetables.  Because Malaysia is incredibly verdant, I suspect that a lot of the local produce is organic anyway, but you can buy organic veggies in most supermarkets (at rather high prices unfortunately).

The tap water in Malaysia has to be boiled before consumption and it is recommended that you install water purifiers in your home. Most households would have a water purifier installed in the kitchen so that you can use purified water for cooking and drinking. Generally, even if the water is not purified, it is safe for consumption as long as it is boiled.

As for organic vegetables, you can get this in most supermarkets and grocery stores. There is also several large organic shops in KL. Justlife in The Gardens Mall is an organic store which sells fresh produce as well as other dry/household products. Most grocery stores and supermarkets have a dedicated organic section.

The water quality in KL generally is not so clean, normally we Malaysians will install our own water filter at home. These days they come in different brands and different quality, go for the mid range ones to be safe that should cost you about RM3,000.00 for a reasonably good quality one.

After you have installed your water filter, you have your option to boil them.

As for organic food, you can get them at most super market at their organic sections
