I am supposed to join a software company in Mauritius. So I would be coming there on occupation permit. Can someone suggest how can I get the local (Mauritian) mobile SIM card ? What all documents would be needed ? Can I get the SIM card at the airport itself after landing there ?

I don't recollect seeing Orange/ Emtel store at the airport.. But, you should get it near your residence/ office.  You can consider picking one on ur way from airport itself.  Your passport [in addition to the money ;)] suffices to purchase a prepaid sim card which is activated in typically 15-20 mins..

I can't speak for Orange or MTML, but Emtel SIM packs can be bought at the ABC Car Rental and at Mauritius Post.

If you go to an Emtel shop, you can buy a sim card and they will put it in your phone for you if yuo want them to.  You need your passport for ID purposes.  I did this recently and there were no problems and I think tha Emtel is the best local network.
