I have the good fortune to meet a EXTREMELY nice taxi driver whom I left my iPhone in.

He not only found my phone for me, but also drove out of his way to my apartment to return it.

I have been in Rio for a long time and this is the best and most honest taxi driver I have ever met.

This really enforce my faith in my fellow man.

His name is Aluizio. Number is (21) 983723798.

Yep, I agree there are lots of honest taxi drivers out there. When you find one, tip well and try and always use his services. Get a cellular phone number, they're quite willing to give it out. Even if you sometimes have to wait longer, especially if they've already got a fare, it's worth the wait. I know from personal experience too.

I gave him 100BRL for his troubles, but he refused to take any more than the amount on the meter (showing 19.80BRL).

How about that!

I told him he will ALWAYS be my preferred driver in Rio (his number as above post).
