Hola!

I will be in Bulgaria from 8th. - 15th. 08. 2014. Since it is a very short time, I would like to profit of it the most, but I have no idea what it is worth to visit near Varna, or Sofia... Or there are other interestings spots?!

Sorry, but I never was there, and I do not speak teh language :(

Thanks in advance!

Varnarama

Do you like the beach?
If you do, stay away from Sunny Beach & Golden Sands resorts, unless you like commercialised, purpose-built westernised resorts.

Yeap, I will stay in Varna, but the questions is... und after?

Varnarama

Well, it is more than 6 hours to Sofia from Varna (by land), so if you want to visit other coastal resorts with Bulgarian culture, I am told Sozopol & Nessabar are very nice (2.5 - 3 hours from Varna I think).
Inland, people rave about the countryside, but I am not sure I would want to be walking up any hills in the heat of august  :(

I would visit the Balchik botanical garden and palace, I think it is about 20 min away from Varna. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balchik_Palace

Hi Dew,

You don't really say what you are interested in.
For natural wonders / sights there are:
The petrified stone forest - Pobiti Kamini in Bulgarian.
Aladzha Monestary with catacombs and cells in the rock face, they also have a light and sound show every Wednesday and Sunday evening in the summer.
The sea gardens are lovely for a long stroll.
There is a tiny zoo, summer amphitheater and amusement park in the sea gardens too.
Tons of restaurants, nightclubs, pubs and bars in the center and on the beach alley.
The dolphinarium - where a baby dolphin has just been born.
The Vinitza go cart track (biggest in the Balkans apparently)
Three malls.
Busy beaches, quieter beaches.
Hot mineral pools, mud baths.
Several theatres (mostly in Bulgarian unfortunately)
Opera house, archeological museum, naval museum, sports palace, ethnographic museum.
Really depends what you are looking for.
Have fun and enjoy!
Regards,
Luna
