There was a great topic on Carp fishing, but it started in 2011 orso.

I would like to do some Lure and spin fishing for (Northern) Pike (esox) in rivers, canals or lakes.

Perch or Perchpike (Zander) might also be nice.

I have been asking around, but not many info's.

I moved to Sofia about 2 years ago and only recently bought a car, so now I will have easier transport to any fishing waters, but I really have no idea where to fish for these species. I have seen some lakes and maybe I just should try.

Also how can I get a Bulgarian Fishing license, and are there local fishing clubs owing fishing water, how does fishing in Bulgaria work.

I speak and write English, Dutch and German (and a bit French and very basic Bulgarian).

I hope anyone here can help or advise !

Hi there,

You can get Bulgarian fishing license quite easily - most of the shops selling fishing equipment also provide options to purchase the license.

Fishing clubs around Sofia, owning their ponds or lakes is also easy to find:
