It would be best if you posted in English.  This is an English speaking forum.

Buddy, even those of us on this blog who speak a few thousand words in espanol have little idea what you're talking about with "dar cocejo de Ecuador" or "montar un neg."   "Cocejo" and "neg" aren't even in my diccionario.  I'm guessing you want to open a "negotiation" but that's purely a guess.  Is "cocejo" a typo for "consejo" (advice);  changing languages and then misspelling on top of that would be brutal for clear communication.

It's odd -- since this is an English-language blog, your profile is mostly in English, you've been posting for a while in English, and you earlier identified yourself as "John from UK" -- that you now have switched to espanol.  Thereby "fastidiando a tus amos internacionales" in Mauritius.

Interesting photo, by the way:  the pose looks like Buster Posey waiting for a curveball from Madison Bumgarner.

Johnny,

How about live band concert organiser....

You've got contacts in London and Madrid, bilingual abilities and seem dressed for the part.  You could bring in musicians and acts to EC's largest three cities.

I'll wager you have the academic background to swing a professional visa.

You'd need to buy a cellphone, some letterhead with business cards...and if you get busy, hire an assistant.

Possibly a loose-change fund to buy drinks for the bands, their managers and the groupies.

Johnny, I recall you mentioning a "salo" in one of your posts, no doubt your cheeky way of saying hair-salon.

How about a high end peluqueria in tony Mariscal (Quito).  Name it "Madrid" or "London Johnny's."

Offer massage and Euro-music.

Please don't ask me how much you'd need to invest.  I'm just here "disfrutandome" in the brainstorming process.

Here's another one, maybe the best one yet...

"London Johnny's Cheesaria":  Stock gourmet cheeses and the non-gourmet ones that are virtually impossible to find in this cheese-starved capital (see our thread on For Cheese Lovers Only to see just how bad it's gotten).

Believe it or not, I've been living here a year and a half and have no source for American cheese, Swiss cheese or Muenster cheese.

I posit that once you get the word out, the Expats in town will "pay a pretty penny" to satiate their as-yet-unquenched lust for cheese.

Babs Suderman, what do you think of this...

Mostly just the stuff listed on my profile...plus lately: online blackjack and making the occasional comment on Expat.com.

This includes, of course, providing business consulting "gratis" to entrepreneurs from London and Madrid.

I ran a video editing studio and production company in New York City for years, then left that to go into dealing Blackjack and other casino games (most recently at Sands Resort Casino in Bethlehem, PA, and earlier at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas "Strip.")

That is fucking nice to be able to do that I which  I could learn  that.. To be able to find a job on a  cruise on the Caribbean. .I used to work  on all the  conflict countries   and   making the News of war  as one camaraman for. BBC AND CNA  ALSO I USED TO BE A photographer  for many News Peper  in the UK..  Now. I  just like to have a small  business  to keep my self busy and have a very quiet live..

I have a question  for you. Why Ecuador? And not Panama, Chile?

bekerst

Maybe  we could do some production  in Ecuador!!!!

Johnny  --

Why not Panama:  Too "caliente" --  I was in Panama City and could not believe the humidity.  Don't be fooled by online reports that Boquete and the other mountain towns are "crisp and cool year-round."  Boquete is half the altitude of Quito and the difference is all about the heat.  You can check the average monthly highs at the weather sites.  You'll see it's always (monthly average) 68-70 tops, in Quito.  For an eye-opener check the RealFeel stats for Boquete and other places in Panama --which take into account humidity -- at the accuweather website.

Why Not Chile:  I did not resonate to Santiago (where I apparently also picked up a bug) and was then ill during my stay on the southern coast.  I found the people in Santiago extremely friendly and the so. coast beautiful.   The government buildings in the capital (Santiago) are so enormous they seem to dominate the place.

Ecuador has the year-round springlike weather (here in the EC capital and other highlands places), the easy-on-the-wallet cost of living, friendly people.

The one thing we need is to bring back the Ecuadorian casinos.  El Supremo outlawed them about three years ago so it's not going to change back in the next couple of years.  Or longer if he decides to get a law passed allowing him to run again (the high court ruled such a law is permissible) and is re-elected.

I could consult on the following documentaries produced by London Johnny Productions...

1.  How Living Above 9,000 Feet Changes Your Life

2.  How Ecuador Sold Its Financial Soul to the People's Republic

3.  How Ecuador Became the First Country in a Century to Outlaw Existing Blackjack and Other Casino Table Games

I'll let you handle the "pitch" meetings with CNN, the BBC and other prospective clients as I have exited the sales business, Johnny.

"Desafortunadamente":  all my production samples were irretrievably lost due to the health crisis I experienced last year, which caused me to leave the U.S. hurriedly and relocate to EC.

Off topic, you say.... :offtopic::o

Actually, I'd say you're trying to chill speech.

You're also off-base for the following reasons:

1. Yes, this is a new members area...and this is a discussion with a new member -- brainstorming and bouncing ideas around that could be of interest to a lot of Expat.com participants and readers.

2. If you don't have interest in our back-and-forth, you can skip ahead.  I believe others have found it entertaining at the very least:  did you see Babs Suderman's comment above how she was laughing her head off...

3. "...whatever your name is and the guy from Madrid":  this is rude, not polite, rhetoric and IMO is an inappropriate greeting for the New Members you're supposedly trying to protect.

Nevertheless, since it's so easy to comply with your request, I am starting a new thread titled:  For Entrepreneurs, TV Producers and Blackjack Players.

Here I go and set up this nice new thread about Blackjack*, etc. and folks are still raggin' the casinos on this New Members thread.

C'mon, folks, give sue..bs a break.
