How to compute indemnity for 3 years, visa 18

legacy

maybe this can help (link)

justfedup

If completed 3 years, the indemnity is equal to: 1/2 * Gross salary * Service period (in years)
- If the employee is terminated, s/he gets the amount as calculated above
- If the employee resigned, s/he gets half of the amount calculated above.

Examples: Employee with monthly gross salary of 500 KD and a service period of 4 years
In case of termination: indemnity = 1/2 * 500 * 4 = 1000 KD
In case of resignation: indemnity = 1/2 * 500 * 4 = 1000 KD but the employee is entitled to only half of that so the indemnity availed will be 1/2 * 1000 = 500 KD.

Should I give a homework question now? :P

Hi Legacy,

I tried you link but got a 404 message. I'm assuming its a calculator that will tell you something like "half of a month's salary" times the number of years you've worked (with a minimum of 3 years)? Right?

Do you think this is calculated on the total take home (i.e. salary plus housing allowance plus anything else) that you receive as a payment each month, or do you think the law states that its only the base salary? Any ideas? It makes quite a difference.

@Kiwi2Kuwait It's the take home salary. Which means basic salary + any allowances that are received monthly for a period of more than 3 months.

Great, thank you very much for that clarification. Most useful.
