Post new topic

Hi, I need some advise on the transferring of money from NZ to South Africa. Is it a difficult process? I will be living in New Zealand and need to hear from the New Zealanders how they do it.

You need to post this on the NZ section of the forum.

Hello melenisia,

I created a new thread from your post on the New Zealand forum as you also want to hear from members of this forum.

Please note that you still have your thread on the South African forum here : https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=503892

Best of luck, ;)

Hi Melenisia,
I am not sure regarding the SA part of your transfer requirement but I have performed a lot of international transfers to/from NZ (just not to SA) and one of the considerations is getting the best Foreign Exhchange (FX) rate you can.  The Rand is a bit volitile and not one of the major traded currencies so I would be weary of banks taking advantage of this.
I am not sure the rules on here regarding giving advice on specific companies but the moderator will no doubt pick me up if this is inappropriate but HiFX is a NZ based company that specialises in FX transfers and will has always given me a much better FX rate than my banks (ASB, ANZ & Westpac) - they also offer advice on timing and when may be a better time to make the transfer.
You can google them to find the contact else Matthew Perkins has been very helpful for us matthew.perkins@hifx.co.nz
All the best and commiserations for last weeks rugby game :)
