Hi. Just after some more info with the partner residence visa. My husband is a NZ citizen. We have been living together in the UK for the last 18 years. We would like to move to NZ with our children. Has anybody been through this visa process and what is the rough time frame?!

Any help and advice will be great fully received

You're elgibile to apply for a residence visa under partnership. As you've spent more than 5 years living together, this could be a granted as permanent residence, as long as you apply before you move to NZ and of course subject to proving that time living together, as well as meeting character and health requirements.

Your children, as the children of an NZ citizen, would likely be eligible for citizenship anyway, so not needing a visa but needing to apply for their NZ passports. This woulnd't be the case if your husband gained his citizenship by descent.

Hoe long does this visa take please?

@fionaromaniuk

You're looking at probably 6-8 months on average for the visa process, depending on how good the relationship evidence is.

That's something I can only assist clients with. There is a wide variety and each couple is different as to what they should provide.

If you're trying to get a [link moderated], there's no specific list of documents you have to show, but here are some usual examples:

- Your marriage certificates.

- Birth certificates for any kids you have.

- Rental agreements and bills you share.

- Bank accounts you both use.

- Ask your friends to write a little something about your relationship.

- Throw in some pics from parties or trips.

- Share cards, letters, emails, or texts that show you're a real couple.

Hope this helps!
