New Zealand Investor visa and 401k

Post new topic

Hello All: I am thinking of applying for investor visa 2 and I have a question about the requirement of buying equities in New Zealand. Is there a way to keep my 401k in the U.S. but invest in New Zealand stocks in my 401k to meet requirements for the investor visa? Otherwise, I would have to withdraw all my funds and pay a huge tax liability. Just checking if there is a way to meet the investing requirements without withdrawing from 401k - just altering my 401k investments to NZ stocks and bonds.  Cheers Mark

I am not familiar with 401K. NZ Investor 2 requiring you to transfer the fund from overseas to NZ via banking system and invest in NZ dollars. Let me know if you need more information about Investor 2. You may structure so that you can avoid becoming NZ tax resident.
