Hi guys, am currently in advanced discussions with a private company in Bahrain for a position in Manama. Am  Kenyan n IT management expert with 15years of experience.

Can anyone help with a general indicator of salary range  expectation for a Business Systems Analyst with my experience? Also would appretiate any tips on what else to negotiate for (School for kids, Housing, Car allowance, medical, social security, bonuses, relocation allowance, flights home...etc)

Thanks for taking your time.

Hello gkimani,

I think you should ask the company what is their offer (along with bonus, flight ticket, family status) and then take a call on it. Bahrain is a very small country and salaries differ based on size of the organisation at times. There are few things on a higher side in Bahrain namely housing, schooling and medical.Kindly go through the below mentioned links which would give you an idea about the cost of living

I hope the information provided will help you in making the right choice, and our esteemed forum members will be more than happy to share more information with you if needed.

Good luck

Hi Logocal,

Thanks for your response. The links were quite helpfull. The one thing I can't seem to get a hold of is costs for a good school ( Kindergarten and Primary). Any ideas from those of you who have moved with your families?

Also, would a spouse be allowed to find work once we settle?

This is obviousely a major determinant on whether to move with the family or not.

Appreciate your insights.

hi,

I dont know the cost of schools, i am sure someone on the forum who has info will reply on that point.

Regarding your wife being allowed to work, it will be the same way you applied for work. Once shes employed she will not be your dependent.

from my experience, the company normally has a policy regarding allowance for School, Housing, Car, medical, social security, bonuses, relocation, flights, .... for the same level of employees.
I could not negotiate these things but if you are not happy with allowances you can always negotiate base salary.
Your position could be a different level so your case may differ from my one but I was only able to negotiate my base salary.

private school fee is around 1100-1500 bd per term. (3 terms a year)

Good luck.

You might find this link to the British School of Bahrain fees page of use as an indication when considering the cost of schooling out here (different school have different fees!).  The fees increase as the age of the child increases!!
