Hi,

While living abroad, some expats wish to get involved in the local community life.

What organizations expats can turn to if they want to volunteer in Belgium?

How to join a charitable institution, what are the steps?

Which causes have the greatest need for volunteers in Belgium?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience and advice,

Maximilien

Check out http://www.vrijwilligerswerk.be/node/vacatures and select the criteria you prefer.

You will probably need the help of a (Flemish) native speaker.

Good luck!

I am also looking the organisation in Belgium for my wife to be a volunteer...

My suggestion would be to contact People to People International/Belgium and talk to "Chalks". He is the president and can point you toward more volunteering opportunities than you can handle.

One of my favorite organizations throughout Belgium is Buddy Werking. It pairs volunteers with individuals who have had psychological disorders (big or tiny) and are ready to get back into the swing of "real-life" after rehab, but just need a friend to help bridge that re-adjustment. I made a life-long friend out of it! The website is: Buddy Werking. It's a flemish org, but I got by with only speaking english.

Let me know if you have any questions!
